Fr. Lorig RecommendsFr. Lorig says: Not only was I amazed by how quickly I read this book, but also at how much it has impacted my prayer life. I was so moved by this book that I have decided to have all my students read it at some point this year.

Mrs. Novak RecommendsMrs. Novak - 5th Grade: This book had been sitting around my home for years and I finally took the time to read it this summer. It is one I will not soon forget. Told in the setting of the 1960s South, there are many themes throughout the story, including love, grief, despair, hope, and acceptance. Although there are many struggling moments for the characters, it is a story of triumph and perserverence. Oh, and you should finish it in a couple of sittings! -

Mrs. Berg RecommendsMrs. Berg - Sixth Grade: This is a story about a mother who gave birth to a daughter with a fragile bone disease and ends up suing her obstetrician who is her best friend for wrongful birth. Picoult is known for her surprise endings, but I must admit this one literally took my breath away. -
Mr. Dupre RecommendsMr. Dupre - Principal: I would like to recommend A Gathering of Old Men by Ernest Gaines. The story is set in a small Louisiana community and vividly portrays both the race and class struggles that exist in these communities. -

Mrs. Atkeson RecommendsMrs. Atkeson - Guidance Counselor: My recommendation would have to be To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It's my all time favorite book, and I think it has themes that speak to every reader. It is a perfect book for high school age readers, but it's one I have read again and again, and always found something new. -
Mrs. Schneider's PicksMrs. Schneider - Library, Algebra: Mrs. Schneider couldn't narrow it down to one book so we picked one for her from her very extensive list. Becuase as she says, "This is probably much more than you bargained for, but what can you expect from a librarian??!," we're going to give Mrs. Schneider her own recommendation page: Mrs. Schneider's Picks -
Mr. Rose RecommendsMr. Rose - Music: Catcher in the Rye---still my favorite after all these years. I also love "Hear me Talking to Ya". This is a biographical collection of the lives of famous jazz muscians thoughtout the years. -
Mr. Bahrih RecommendsThis is a paperback edition of stories about fallen away Catholics who came back to the Faith. Among the 11 testimonials are Father John Corapi, C.P.M., Jesse Romero, Victor Claveau, and Terese Norris. Fr. Corapi’s story was one from rags to riches, then back to rags and finally to priesthood. Since these were former Catholics, they were not technically called converts. They are referred to as “reverts”. Interesting! And very interesting how God works in people’s lives -
Mrs. Schmeichel RecommendsMrs. Schmeichel - English: Same Kind of Different as Me is a story about a homeless drifter Denver Moore, who grew up picking cotton in virtual slavery, and an upscale art dealer Ron Hall, who is accustomed to the world of Armani and Chanel. It is about Ron Hall's gutsy wife Deborah who has a dream that Ron and Denver will be friends beforethey even have met.It is a story of healing, the restorative power of forgiveness, and the power of unconditional love.As Moore and Hall take turns telling their stories, which eventually intertwine, the reader gains insights, not only into cultures and thinking outside one's own, but can also feel the love of our Lord Jesus whose Spirit works daily that none should be lost. -
Mrs. Willis RecommendsMrs. Willis - 1st Grade: Being a lover of children's literature there are so many "favorites" its hard to choose, but one of my all time favorite books has to be "The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey" by Susan Wojciechowski - a wonderful story that brings tears to your eyes whenever you read it!
