Mrs. Carole Willis - Teach: First Grade
Bio: I grew up in Columbus, NE, and graduated from Scotus High School. I attended Duchesne College in Omaha and got my BA from Barat College in Lake Forest, IL. I attended graduate school at UNL in history and received my MA in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College in 2001. This is my 30th year of teaching, 25th at St. Mary's. I began in 1985 as the reading resource teacher and have been teaching First Grade since 1993.
My husband, Keith, teaches Counseling at Wayne State College and is a psychologist at O'Neill Valley Hope. All of our six children graduated from St. Mary's. Katie Morrow ('92) is the technology coordinator at O'Neill Public Schools; Amy Nordness ('94) is working on her doctorate in speech pathology at UNL and works at the Med Center in Omaha; Andrew ('97) is a lawyer in Lincoln; Anne ('01) teaches at Wayne State College; Matthew ('03) is a third year optometry student in Memphis, TN; and Elizabeth ('06) is a senior at Creighton University. We also have 9 grandchildren.
I love teaching First Graders to read and getting them excited about books! Collecting children's literature is one of my passions! I also like to walk, take photographs, go on camping trips with our family, and spend time with my grandchildren!
