In the beginning…

St. Mary’s is sitting on a gold mine of exciting history.  The school archives go all the way back to 1896 when then Fr. Cassidy pleaded with Mother Leopoldine to establish a Franciscan community here in O’Neill and start our school.  One of the beautiful traditions of these Sisters was to chronicle each school year noting the highlights and struggles.  It’s a gem of a read and fascinating to watch the history unfold to where we are now.

As an ongoing project St. Mary’s will publish the chronicles on our website found at http://www.stmarysoneill.org/academy-chronicles/ and we’ll even throw in a few photos too to set the stage.
